What BlackBerry PlayBook retrieves from past technologies

The BlackBerry PlayBook contains very advanced and recent computer science, of course some parts of the PlayBook are from previous technologies, for example it's 1GHZ Dual-Core processor has been seen used in various laptops prior to 2011.  Many of the BlackBerry PlayBooks technologies have been previously seen in the Apple iPad for example, video conferencing, web browsing, calenders, organization and syncing capabilities, almost all of the technologies have been improved on the BlackBerry Playbook though; the reason being to target more customers.  The PlayBook provides many previous technologies and more.

The PlayBook will definitely be bringing plenty of competition to Computer Sciences.  Computer programmers will now be faced with new technologies that will be hard to beat in any new tablet that they attempt to create.  Technology is always changing and it is brilliant ideas like tablet computers that always lead to more and more discoveries.  The most likely outcome of the PlayBook is that Apple will attempt to create another newer version of the iPad that has even more advanced technologies than the PlayBook;  I predict that their will be a lot of competition within the Computer Sciences field.

The BlackBerry PlayBook and it's effect on Computer Sciences

What is the BlackBerry PlayBook?:

The BlackBerry Playbook is soon to be introduced into the market by BlackBerry.  It is a high speed tablet computer similar to the iPad but different in many ways.  The PlayBook provides professional performance, effective and fast web browsing with HTML5 capabilities, high speed connections, 4G network and even the ability to use your BlackBerry smartphone as a modem to run 3G network.  Not only does it supply fast networking capabilities you can also sync it with your BlackBerry smartphone and use email, calender, address book, tasks and BlackBerry Messenger.  This amazing new piece of technology also comes with video-conferencing capabilities, in-class media and is 7" and 0.9 pounds large enough to use, but smaller and lighter then the apple iPad.

Comparison to the Apple iPad:

With it's 1GHZ Dual-Core processor it can load web pages at even higher speeds then the apple iPad.  The PlayBook also has support for HTML5 something which the iPad lacks, because of the PlayBook's high quality animations appear smoother and faster then the iPad this is because of the speed at which Javascript and HTML5 can work on the PlayBook.

How the BlackBerry Playbook will impact the Computer Sciences field:

The BlackBerry PlayBook will have a very positive influence on Computer Sciences because a) It provides a new technology which, many people who are being introduced into a Computer Science program can study and learn from b) It sets the bar high for any company wishing to create a new tablet and c) It provides a fast and effective tablet for anyone working within the Computer Science industry to record notes, keep calenders and research information on the go.  It is a convenient size and stores plenty of information which is useful when you are recording notes and ideas down all the time.

Will BlackBerry PlayBook obsolesce any past technologies?

Despite the BlackBerry PlayBook's new and advanced technologies; I doubt it will obsolesce other tablets.  For example the iPad was one of the original tablets of this kind; it would be very difficult for any company, not just BlackBerry to obsolesce a technology like that because it is the most widely known tablet.  On the other hand many BlackBerry smartphone users may resort to the PlayBook because of it's capabilities for syncing with their smartphones, this can be very useful when you have a hectic job in the business world.  The PlayBook is aimed towards business customers compared to the Apple iPad which is aimed at younger generations and businesses so it is really up to personal preference,  the Apple iPad may contain plenty of apps but the PlayBook contains more organization and business uses.

Overall I believe that the BlackBerry Playbook will not obsolesce any past technologies, it may create competition between rivals like Motorola Xoom who are soon to launch a tablet and Apple iPad but I do not believe it will be able to obsolesce them, all tablets have various different technologies to offer and unless BlackBerry comes out with a mind controlled tablet I don't believe they will whipe out any other tablet companies for good.

What will BlackBerry PlayBook reverse and what are the drawbacks?

When pushed to its outer limit the BlackBerry PlayBook may reverse some of the more fun aspects that comes as part of tablet computers.  This may not be a bad thing though.  In comparison to the iPad the PlayBook contains less apps but has plenty more uses for business persons.  The only reason that the lack of apps would be a drawback is if someone in their teens to late 20's was using it because it is not as much of a "fun and personal" device as the iPad, the reasons being that the PlayBook is aimed towards business persons who sometimes do not want a tablet for fun and games but one that is more geared for work.

The only drawback to this technology is the lack of applications and games because it is aimed towards business persons.  Other then that if you are using the tablet for business use or if you want a tablet that has a very strong internet connection than this tablet may be perfect for you.
